The Fire Away Tee began with a 91-year-old inventor, a frustrated friend, and a refusal to settle for a tee that breaks.

Hi, I’m Bob Wagstaff

I’m 91 years old. I’m an Army veteran, biochemist, nutritionist, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, golfer, and inventor. I’ve received 7 patents for various inventions — and my latest is the Fire Away Tee.

How I Wound Up Creating a Golf Tee

One day, my friend Ed Halliday complained about his Martini tee and asked if I could design a better one. I knew I could.

I brought my scientific training to bear on the project and made several prototypes, ultimately landing on a four-point holder design — one of the critical features behind the tee’s exceptional performance.

The Substance of Things to Come

We tested over two dozen materials, and none had the flexibility and durability I needed. Then, out of nowhere, a salesman I hadn’t seen in five years appeared with a new advanced composite that “might do the trick.” It worked perfectly — the most resilient, pliable material we’d tested. With the design complete and the perfect material in hand, we made one last prototype.

A state-of-the-art injection molding machine produces our tees to exacting standards — proudly manufactured in the USA by a veteran-owned business.

Independent, Third-Party Tested

If we tested our own tee, there’d be potential for bias. Our golf buddies? Anecdotal. So we sent it to Golf Laboratories in San Diego — the industry’s gold standard — where a precision robot eliminates any chance of human error.

The results: the Fire Away Tee outperformed every other tee in every measurable category. Even we were surprised.
